On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the Court approved a six-month stay (i.e., pause) of the litigation to allow the parties to focus on facilitated settlement discussions. The stay will be in effect through September 30, 2022. The Phase 1 trial that was scheduled to begin on March 16 did not commence and is now on hold. The City of Ventura hopes that the settlement discussions will reduce the scope of the Phase 1 trial or eliminate the need for it entirely.
