City to Request Extension to Jan. 29, 2021 for People to Respond to the Physical Solution

This week, the City of Ventura filed papers asking the Court to extend to Jan. 29, 2021, the deadline for people to decide how to respond to the City’s Third-Amended Cross-Complaint. The current deadline is Oct. 30, 2020. Extending the deadline to Jan. 29 will give people additional time to review the locally proposed plan and court-approved settlement agreement (called a “physical solution”) that was released by a coalition of the City and four other large water users on Sept. 15, 2020, before they decide whether to enter the case by filing an answer or whether they can agree to the physical solution.

The Court could make a decision prior to Oct. 30, but also could wait until the Status Conference on the afternoon of Nov. 16. The City will share whether the extension request is granted as soon as possible after hearing from the Court.
